The cylinder is formed by wrapping a single piece of first-layer cowhide around itself on a diagonal, held by two press studs down the overlap. The spiral is structural — it is what gives the wall its stiffness without a liner. It holds pens, but the diameter also takes scissors, a knife, a rule, or the remote that never has anywhere to live.
