Cowhide Leather Motorcycle Jacket
A G-1 flight jacket in distressed cowhide, with the detachable shearling collar and bi-swing back the pattern was built around. The lining is a printed aeronautical chart, and the squadron patches are already stitched on.
Shearling, with a throat strap — and it comes off
A thick tan shearling collar, held by a leather throat latch that closes across the neck when the wind gets behind it. Unfasten the collar entirely and the jacket becomes a plain brown bomber for the other three seasons. That detachable collar is the detail the G-1 pattern is known for. It is also the reason one jacket covers autumn and January.

Open the zip and the lining is an aeronautical chart — coastlines, airways and bearings across Canada and the northern United States, in chart green on cream. Flight jackets were once lined with printed escape maps so a downed pilot had something to navigate by. Nobody needs that now. It is still the best thing about the jacket, and it is only ever seen by the man wearing it.

Two pleated action panels run from the shoulder seam down into the yoke. Reach forward — for handlebars, a steering wheel, a bag on a high shelf — and the leather opens across the back instead of pulling at the arms. Knitted ribbing at both cuffs and the hem closes the jacket off at the wrists and waist, which is what keeps the warmth in rather than the leather.
