Crazy-horse leather is waxed hide — press it and the wax moves, so the mark lightens and then settles back. Every case leaves the workshop with a different pattern across it and picks up more. Stitched by hand along the seam and closed with a single brass press stud on a strap.

The single case is a squat cylinder, 80 by 76 by 84 millimetres, that takes one watch on a soft cushion and goes in a jacket pocket for a weekend. The three-watch roll opens flat at 185 millimetres wide, each watch on its own pillow. There is a ring box in the same leather if the thing being kept is smaller.

Sapphire resists a lot, but a case back against keys does not, and a bracelet against a zip does not either. The interior here is lined and cushioned so nothing metal touches anything metal. It rolls or snaps shut rather than latching, which means there is no hinge to fail and nothing to leave open by accident.
