A zip-around shoe-care kit with horsehair brushes, polish, a wire brush for suede and a metal shoehorn, each held under its own elastic strap. It folds shut to the size of a book, so it lives with the shoes rather than under the sink.

A large horsehair brush for buffing and a medium one for working polish in, plus a wooden-handled dauber, a sponge brush and a wire brush for suede and matte finishes. Horsehair is soft enough not to scratch and stiff enough to raise a shine, which is a harder combination to get right than it sounds. Black and white polish are both in the case, with a metal shoehorn and a cloth.
